Woman in Her 20s Killed After Speeding Car Ran Two Red Lights and Hit Another Vehicle at Telephone Road and Reveille Street in Southeast Houston

HOUSTON, TX — Houston police are investigating a deadly two-car crash that unfolded early Saturday at Telephone Road and Reveille Street. Officers said it happened around 1:40 a.m. and involved two vehicles with one person in each car.
According to the initial account, one car was traveling south on Reveille Street at a high speed when it went through two red lights and entered the intersection. Police said it struck the other vehicle there. The driver of the speeding car, described only as a woman in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene after officers and medics tried lifesaving measures.

The Houston Police Department said the other driver was hurt, but the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. No other details about that person were released. Police have not said whether impairment, distraction, or another factor may have played a role.

Simmons also urged drivers to be careful, especially late at night. Her comments came after police described the crash as a high-speed collision at an intersection controlled by traffic lights, making the red-light detail central to how investigators are viewing the case.
