Teen Dies and Two Juveniles Critically Hurt After Randallstown Crash Following Carroll County Chase That Reached Nearly 100 Mph on Route 26
Baltimore County police are investigating a deadly single-vehicle crash linked to an earlier high-speed chase in Carroll County.
RANDALLSTOWN, MD — Baltimore County police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a 17-year-old and critically injured two juvenile passengers late Wednesday night. Officers were called to the intersection of Liberty Road and Lyon Mills Road at 11:14 p.m. after reports of a wreck involving a 2013 GMC Acadia.
Police said the SUV was traveling eastbound on Liberty Road when it left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver was identified as 17-year-old Angel Callejas Fuentes, who died at a nearby hospital from his injuries. One juvenile was riding in the front seat and another in the rear seat, and both were taken to Shock Trauma with life-threatening injuries.
Officials Trace Chase
Investigators said the crash was tied to an earlier incident in Carroll County. According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, deputies saw the SUV traveling eastbound on Route 26 at a high rate of speed and tried to stop it near Oakland Mills Road.
The sheriff’s office said the vehicle was clocked at 81 mph in a 45 mph zone before fleeing eastbound into Baltimore County at close to 100 mph. Deputies ended the pursuit in the area of Route 26 and Holbrook Road. Later, after learning of the crash in Randallstown, they returned to Route 26 to confirm the vehicle was the same one they had pursued.
What Investigators Confirmed
Police said the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office reviewed in-car camera video showing the events before and after the pursuit ended. The agency said it contacted the Maryland Attorney General’s Office and went over the case with the Independent Investigations Division, which declined to investigate the incident.
The sheriff’s office said it would not release the video right now out of respect for the families involved. Baltimore County police said the crash investigation remains active and ongoing, and no further findings have been announced. Officials have not said whether any charges are expected or identified any other possible factors in the wreck.

The incident has placed attention on the stretch of Route 26 used by the pursuit and on how police respond when a driver speeds across county lines. The confirmed facts so far are limited to the chase, the crash, the injuries, and the agencies that reviewed what happened.
What remains unknown includes any future court action, whether investigators will release more video or reports, and whether Baltimore County or Carroll County officials will provide additional details.
