Man Dies After Hit and Run Driver and Marked NYPD Vehicle Strike Him in Bronx Street Collision Near College Avenue Early Saturday

BRONX, NY — Police say an unidentified man was killed after two vehicles struck him in a Bronx roadway early Saturday, including a marked NYPD vehicle. The crash happened near College Avenue and East 166th Street in Morrisania after an earlier physical altercation in front of 1059 College Avenue.
According to investigators, the man was seen lying unconscious and unresponsive in the street after the fight. About 10 minutes later, a white BMW SUV traveling eastbound on East 166th Street hit him, and the driver kept going. A marked NYPD vehicle later struck him as he remained in the roadway.
What Police Have Confirmed
The NYPD said the first reported contact came after the man was involved in a physical altercation with another unidentified person around 3:47 a.m. Police have not identified the other person involved in that dispute, and they have not said what led to it.
After the fight, the man was found in the roadway at the northwest corner of College Avenue and East 166th Street. Police said the BMW SUV was traveling eastbound when it struck him. The driver did not stay at the scene. The officer driving the marked NYPD vehicle remained there and rendered aid.
