ORANGE COUNTY, NY — New York State Police say they are searching for Thomas Ryan after a fire at a home on Greenville Turnpike in Orange County turned into a homicide investigation. Troopers said the case began Thursday, when crews responded to the blaze and later found a body inside the house after the fire was extinguished.
Police said Ryan is believed to be armed and dangerous. They released new images of him and said they are trying to locate him. Investigators have not publicly identified the person who died and have not said what, if any, connection the victim may have had to Ryan.

State police said Ryan is responsible for setting the fire, based on their investigation. That claim comes from troopers, who have not said in the public notice what evidence led them to that conclusion. They also said the search is still active and involves more than one agency.

Troopers also said Ryan was last seen driving a gray 2016 Toyota Prius with New York registration HNH-7671. Police described him as 6 feet 2 inches tall and 200 pounds.
